The 11th March 2020 is the National No Smoking Day.  This is when we encourage you to stop smoking for a day, and maybe stop smoking entirely.  This event is supported by the NHS, British Heart Foundation and other organisations.

Heart Care Quit Smoking

Smoking increases the risk of chronic obstructive respiratory diseases (COPD), reduces the efficiency of the mucociliary transport system, and increases our risk of lung cancer.  It also puts strain on the cardiovascular system, increasing the risk of heart disease, by increasing the risk of arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis.

But what benefit does stopping smoking for one day even do?  Quitting smoking for just one day can lower your heart rate, raise the oxygen levels in your blood and even half the carbon monoxide levels in your blood.

There are many benefits to stopping smoking entirely!  These include: Heart Care Quit Smoking

  • Improved energy.
  • Lower stress and anxiety.
  • Improved lung function.
  • Improved smell and taste.
  • Improved skin health.
  • Improved mouth health.
  • Reduced risk of heart disease, lung cancer and chronic bronchitis.
  • Protect your loved ones from passive smoking.
  • Financial benefits.

The sooner you give up smoking, the sooner you will have these benefits!  So on the  11th March, try to tell family and friends you are taking part in the National No Smoking Day.  If you would like some advice on quitting smoking, call One You Walsall on 01922 444044.
