Research shows that singing significantly improves lung health as the very act of singing allows the breath to deepen without taking a deep breath.

Benefits of group singing is not only for chronic lung conditions but also for psychological and social well being (this literally means singing can put a smile on your face!).

We have a new singing group at Walsall Heart Care which forms part of your rehab programme to help you manage your condition but also to have a bit of fun along the way.

Its not a choir

It’s not a choir; there are no auditions, there won’t be any sheet music or any pieces of paper and there won’t be any musical accompaniment or backing track (sorry if karaoke is your thing!) We will never ask you to take a deep breath though I may ask you to stand up straight! and we won’t expect you to sing in a concert, unless as a group that is what you would like to do.

What you will do

You will do a variety of warm up exercises both physical and vocal and some singing having some fun along the way.

Singing Leader

The singing group is lead by Sandra Preston who is qualified by Musical Breath in Singing for Lung Health Training which is recognised by the British Lung Foundation. Sandra has been a radiographer and has been singing for many years!
